The quest will take you to LA, but to get backwards to Ascalon you'll either have to fight or get a run.

And any quests will not be available to you before Lions Arch. You can do the missions, but you don't get the experience for them. Everything from Lion's Arch and after is open to you, quests and missions to get the free skills and experience. Same goes for a Nightfall character coming over.

I did that when Factions first came out with my Assasin. From LA head north/east, you can stop at gate of kryta if you want then carry on n/e again next stop will be beacon's perch. Then head north from there make sure you're on the northern route not the sourthen one, if the the monsters are lv 20+ you're in the southern route. Or just make sure it's the left exit not the right when you left beacon.
You'll get to the ice toothcave, from there head east always take the left path when you can, if you're going pass what look like a mining area then you're in the right way. Eventually you'll go inside a cave with a few ettins, if you play chapter 1 before you'll know where you are and the nearest town will be Yak's bend to the east. From Yak head south take the first left and follow the main road take another left, always head east when you can. Acalon is on the far east from there The way to Ascalon from Yak's bend is rather confusing for someone who started GW with factions or nightfall and really hard to explain. Get a run from yak if you can. You know what? Get get a runner from LA if you can lol. It was fun for me on the first go. But after that it just long and boring road to the ruin city of Ascalon. |

Was it worth it? Well depend on what you're after really. If you want the protector or guardian of tyria, area 100% tiltle, then yeah you must be in Ascalon area to do the main missions.
If you dont arse about title, then there's little point to go there really. It is a depressing place, a bit like a wasteland from mad max. I went there just to sell Factions skin weapons back in the day. |

Also its worth going there AFTER you finish prophecies for the titan quests (I assume that the titan quests are available for non tyrian characters? I have never brought one of my NF/Factions characters over).

For the moment im still busy doing the factions missions, always get sidetracked lol
But if cant gain anything (execpt a title) then im just gonna see if somebody wants to run me tru it. I bought a second chapter to make my world bigger, lol Always can do the missions at a later time.....want to finish factions first(hard enough as it is,with so few people) mzzls |

No end game greens, but unlike Factions and nightfall, there are things to do after completing the missions and the storyline in prophecies with things like Titan Missions, and of course, hard Mode, which is quite tough in some places in Tyria
